Modest Modern Design believes that a modern and beautiful life is within reach for everyone, no matter the budget. We exist to create modern, thoughtful and playful spaces (both real and virtual) that inspire people. Modest Modern Design works with individuals and brands that feel the same as we do – that modern can be affordable, accessible, timeless and live-able.

Modest Modern’s owner, Abby Ross, has both a science and design background, adept with both her left and right brain. After studying biology and working as a scientist for several years in Baltimore, Abby switched paths and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art for graphic design. For the past 15 years, she has worked in the digital space, helping small and big brands with their visual identities and digital marketing strategies. She loves helping other creatives bring their ideas and creations into the world. Obsessed with modern architecture and design, Abby built a modern house in Raleigh NC (on a budget!) that was featured in Dwell Magazine and has appeared on many modernist tours. She’s also 1/3 owner and designer of Artish Studio, a small-batch independent furniture studio making art and furniture you can play with.

Whether it’s pulling together an interior design plan for your new/old house, developing a social media strategy for the launch of your cool modern brand, or organizing a photo shoot and visuals to share your big idea, Abby and Modest Modern Design can collaborate with you.
